Faith and Life Series

Grade 5: Credo: I Believe (Revised Edition references)

The English translation of The Roman Missal has been updated. The changes that were made will be implemented in the Liturgy

beginning in Advent 2011. Since the Faith and Life series contains some quotations from the Mass, each book will be slightly affected.

The overall impact of the new Roman Missal, however, is minimal. Each Mass quotation will be updated to reflect the new translation in

the forthcoming Faith and Life Third Edition series. Third Edition student textbooks and activity books will be available by April 2011.

Third Edition teacher’s manuals for grades 2 and 5 will be available by May 2011 while all other Third Edition teacher’s manuals will not

be available until the 2012-2013 school year. This document is provided as an aid to teachers, listing each change made to the Faith and

Life Revised Edition series due to the new Roman Missal. All these changes are reflected in the new Faith and Life 3 rd Edition series.

In this document you will find the changes listed by the order of the Mass. Each row names the Mass part that will change, then offers the

old translation as it appears in previous editions of Faith and Life, and the new translation. The final two columns list the location of the

specific Mass part in the Faith and Life Revised Edition books for this grade.

Please note that every change in the Student Text and Activity Book will also appear in the Teacher’s Manual in the inset image of those

pages in the lesson. When a Student Text or Activity Book page is changed, the corresponding Teacher’s Manual page is listed for your

convenience as an italicized reference within parenthesis.

Collect,

Immaculate

Conception

Father, we rejoice in the privilege of Our

Lady’s Immaculate Conception, which

preserved her from the stain of sin by the

power of Christ’s redeeming death and

prepared her to be the mother of God.

Grant that through her prayers we

ourselves may come to you, cleansed

form all sin. Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Nicene Creed We believe in one God, the Father, the

Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of

all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the

only Son of God eternally begotten of the

Father, God from God, Light from Light,

true God from true God, begotten, not

made, one in Being with the Father.

Through him all things were made. For

us men and for our salvation he came

down from heaven:

O God, who by the Immaculate

Conception of the Blessed Virgin

prepared a worthy dwelling for your Son,

grant, we pray, that, as you preserved her

from every stain by virtue of the Death of

your Son, which you foresaw, so,

through her intercession, we, too, may be

cleansed and admitted to your presence.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your

Son, who lives and reigns with you in the

unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for

ever and ever.

I believe in one God, the Father

almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of

all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the

Only Begotten Son of God, born of the

Father before all ages. God from God,

Light from Light, true God from true

God, begotten, not made, consubstantial

with the Father; through him all things

were made. For us men and for our

salvation he came down from heaven,
