Windows 10 i cant download pictures from the internet and save them as a jpg - that interrupt
I can save web images as a .jpg on the same PC but in Internet Explorer.
Here is a screen grab of the same pic, from the same site, on in Internet Explorer and as you can see it can be saved as a .jpg or .bmp and it comes up with the image file name and not untitled.
So this must be a problem with MS Edge and the default picture format it saves as.
How do I change it?

What is the image URL of img_2189.jpg (rightclick, open in a new tab)? I found the page with the link but I'm not allowed to open the picture without being a member of the forum. The picture itself isn't necessarily stored on www.alfaowner.com
I have this problem with another site. It turns out that the photos are not cached, which means the image resides in memory, and therefor is unnamed and the coding is also lost on it as well. It is just a bitmap, not a file in cache on disk that can be easily saved from its cache location. It is like a picture that you are creating in MS Paint that hasn't been named yet and still has to be converted to a file in a format of your choice.
This is Edge's cache:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AC\#!001\MicrosoftEdge\Cache
There will be several subfolders with all kinds of files and pictures of sites you have visited.
A cached picture will save under the name that it has in cache. A non cached picture will save from memory as Untitled.
I'll bet that you wont be able to find img_2189.jpg in any of the cache subfolders using File explorer search.
BTW, AFAICT, this started when I upgraded to Windows 10 Fall Creators Update with Edge v41.

Ah, ok, I think I understand that. So, Edge isn't caching pictures in the same why as it used to and not in the same way as internet explorer. Yes, this is likely to have started after an update to the original creators edition and yes I am also using edge v41. My other laptop does not have creators edition on it and so verifies that this is the source of the problem.
The problem also seems to cover all websites that I use.
But what is the fix? if Microsoft can't provide a solution I may have to start using some else, like firefox, instead.

So, Edge isn't caching pictures in the same way as it used to and not in the same way as internet explorer.
Well, it does pretty much cache the same way as Internet Explorer, one reason why I use it, as every other browser renames cached files into something unrecognizable. In IE and Edge you can load the cache folder in a picture viewer and see all downloaded pictures that show in Webpages.
In diagnosing the problem (in my situation) I found that the missing pictures are actually downloaded to the cache but that Edge somehow immediately deletes them again once they have completed download. There is something about those pictures or the way how the page is set up or the server where the pictures are downloaded from that invokes this problem as the small pictures that are used by ads are not affected.
I did a picture search on that site :
https://www.google.com/search?q=site:www.alfaowner.com&newwindow=1&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjkveiv457XAhWHZVAKHU4UA0kQ_AUICigB
and any picture I tried would save normally but then I could not find your problem picture among them. That is why I asked for the URL address for that picture so I can check whether it exhibits the same behavior in my situation.
I also had no problems in saving the displayed pictures in this page either:
http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/cool-wall/750553-1961-64-chevrolet-impala.html
If you can't save these either then you likely have a different problem.

No, both of those images still try and save a .png
Try this one for me
https://newalfaparts.co.uk/modification/2656-powerflex-rear-engine-mount-gta-v6-jtd.html
it also saves as a .png
Looks like we may have a different problem to each other.
