Any way to save books from O'Reilly's Safari Bookshelf website?

I'm not sure it's illegal -- might violate the user agreement and get your service revoked, but that's not the same thing as illegal.
It definitely violates the user agreement.

Personally, I wish he'd take a page out of Jim Baen's book. I mean, I've got no problems with paying for content, but I would like to get at it in a format that's freakin' useable, not DocBook, f-ed up XML, or PDF that's not usable/viewable on a PDA.
I've also got issues with paying for the book twice. For example, if you buy an MS Press book, they often come with a free ebook version. Sure, it's HTML Help (or some such format) but it's free with the book. Or you can buy the ebook _and_ the printed book for the cover price of the printed book directly from Manning Press.
The closest O'Reilly comes is selling a CD bookshelf for $70+. And it's usually out of date versions.
Sorry about the rant, but it's just one of my pet peeves...
