How download a movie for free for offline use

Hulu (No Ads) and Hulu (No Ads) + Live TV subscribers can download tons of shows and movies from the Hulu streaming library. Take your TV with you when you travel and watch without WiFi or data on supported mobile devices.

What can I download and what do I need?

If you want to download content on Hulu you’ll need to be a Hulu (No Ads) subscriber with a supported mobile device: 

You can identify if something is downloadable by looking for the Download icon next to the video. 

Shows and movies from Premium Add-ons aren’t downloadable, and neither is the additional on-demand content that comes with a Live TV subscription. As a reminder, those shows and movies are not part of the Hulu streaming library.

How do I find and download shows and movies?

To browse through various shows and movies that are available for download: 

1. Tap the Search  icon

2. Select Downloadable from the Browse menu

When you find something you want to download, navigate to the details page and tap the Download icon next to the video to download it. You can download videos while connected to WiFi or cellular data — get step-by-step instructions here. 

Tap the Downloads icon at the bottom of the screen to see all the downloads on that device — learn more about watching downloaded videos offline. After you’ve watched the video, tap the Trash  icon to delete it and free up space.

Are there any download limits?

You can have up to 25 downloads on five supported mobile devices at one time. These limits are set at the account level, not per profile or device. If you exceed one of these limits, you’ll get a popup alert with next steps.  

You’ll have access to your unwatched downloads for 30 days, unless the episode or movie expires from our streaming library before that. Once you start playback, you’ll have 48 hours to finish watching before the download expires. If a download expires before you’ve watched it, you may be able to renew it by following these steps.

What happens to my downloads if I make changes to my subscription?

Plan Switch

If you switch to a plan that doesn’t support downloads like Hulu or Hulu + Live TV — your existing downloads will be removed. 

Subscription Hold

If your subscription is on hold, you can manage your downloads but you won’t be able to watch them. Once your account is back in good standing, your access to Hulu will resume as normal.

Cancel and Resubscribe

If you cancel and resubscribe you won’t have access to the downloads from your previous subscription, but you can download them again if the content is still available.

How do downloads affect my data usage?

If you're concerned about data usage, watching your downloads is a great option — they won't use your data, even when you're online. 

To limit the amount of data that’s consumed by downloading shows and movies on Hulu, make sure that you're connected to WiFi and have cellular downloading disabled (by default).

I’m having trouble with downloads and need help

If you’re having trouble downloading shows and movies on Hulu, keep in mind: 

• You must be a Hulu (No Ads) or Hulu (No Ads) + Live TV subscriber
• You’ll need a supported mobile device — downloads aren’t available on living room devices or Hulu.com
• You can only download videos with the Download icon
• Downloads are only available to watch on the device that was used to download them
• Downloads in progress may pause if your device loses internet access or if your connection is weak
• Logging out of Hulu automatically deletes all downloaded videos from that device
