How to download a DAISY book on a Windows computer

Step 1: Find a book

1. Enter the following address in your Internet browser: warwickbromleyfiles.co.uk
2. Go to the Search box.
3. Enter the title or keywords for the book you want to downloadand select the Search button. In this example, we will be searching for the book Heart berries a memoir.
   A new page with your Search results will display.
4. Find the title.
   

Step 2: Get it!

1. Under the title and book summary, you will find the Get it! options menu. From the Get it! options menu, select DAISY download (ZIP) format and then select the Get it! button.
   A pop-up appears, informing you that the title will soon be ready on the Available ZIP files for download page.
2. Select OK to close the pop-up.
   If you’re prompted to sign in, enter your library account number and password, and select the Log in button.
3. Select My Account.
4. Select Available ZIP files for download.
   When the file is available for download, it will become available on the screen.
   

Step 3: Save the file

1. When the file appears on screen, select the Download link.
   An Open / Save dialogue box will appear near the bottom of the screen.
2. Select the down arrow beside the Save button. From the list of options select Save as.
   JAWS tip: To focus JAWS on the Open / Save dialogue box you will need to press ALT + N. Once there, tab until you hear “Save split button”. Down arrow until you hear Save as and select that option.
3. Select where you want to save the file on your computer.
4. Select the Save button.
   Your file will start to download. Your Internet browser will indicate the size of the file and its download status.
   

Step 4: Play the book or transfer it to your device

To unzip a DAISY book:

1. When the download is complete the buttons in the Open / Save dialogue box will change. Select Open. If you have closed this dialogue box in error simply find the file on your computer and open it.
   The downloaded zip folder will open displaying all the files.
2. Select Extract all files.
   The ExtractCompressed (Zipped) Folders wizard will open.
3. You can select where you’d like the extracted folder to be but most people should leave it as is. Select Extract.
   Windows folder view will open, with a list of files. This the folder containing your unzipped DAISY book. You can use this unzipped book with your DAISY software or transfer it to a device.
   

How to download a DAISY book on a Mac

This tutorial teaches you how to download a DAISY book on a Mac computer using Safari. This tutorial was written using Mac OS X and Safari Some of the steps will vary, depending on your setup.

Step 1: Find a book

1. Enter the following address in your Internet browser: warwickbromleyfiles.co.uk
2. Go to the Search box.
3. Enter Heart berries a memoir and select the Search button.
   A new page with your Search results will display.
4. Find the title. Within the title summary box is the Get it! options menu.
   

Step 2: Get it!

1. Within the title summary box is the Get it! options menu. From the Get it! options menu, select DAISY download (ZIP) format and then select the Get it! button.
   A pop-up appears, informing you that the title will soon be ready on the Available ZIP files for download page.
2. Select OK to close the pop-up.
   If you’re prompted to sign in, enter your library account number and password, and select the Log in button.
3. Select My Account.
4. Select Available ZIPs to download.
   When the file is available for download, it will become available on the screen.
5. Select the Download link.
   The Download dialogue box will appear and your file will start to download. The Download dialogue box will indicate the size of the file and its download status.

To unzip a DAISY book:

1. When the download is complete, select the Show Downloads button  at the top-right corner of the Safari window.
2. Select the magnifying glass  next to the filename in the downloads list OR you can retrieve the file by going to Finder > Home > Downloads.
3. Open the file.
   The file will unzip to a new folder with the same name. This the folder containing your unzipped DAISY book.
4. Open the new folder. You can use this unzipped book with your DAISY software or transfer it to a device.
