Tap the "Mail" app icon to open Mail and locate the message containing the attachment you want to download.

Scroll to the attachment icon in the message.

Tap the attachment icon. It will begin downloading.

Tap the attachment icon to open it once the download has completed. For photos, after downloading the image will appear directly in your email. Tapping the photo after download allows you to copy it or save it to your Camera Roll.
